Kolkata: NIA conducted searches at 10 locations in Jharkhand and West Bengal on Thursday in connection with People’s Liberation Front of India Terror funding case.
The search was conducted at the locations of close associates and offices of companies associated with PLFI Chief Dinesh Gope in Ranchi, Gumla, Khunti and Kolkata. In previous year fifteen teams of NIA assisted by Jharkhand police carried out searches at the residence and offices of managers of different companies associated with purchase and transport of coal in Amrapali and Magadh coalfields for their alleged role in providing funds to LWE organization TPC (Tritiya Prastuti Committee),an official statement said.
The NIA statement said that during searches, it seized huge incriminating material which included documents related to Amrapali and Magadh Area Committee, hard discs containing accounts of companies, diaries containing entries of money paid to TPC and PLFI (Peoples Liberation Front of India), cash equivalent to Rs. 68 lacs in Indian currency besides Singapore $10,000 and $1300 US along with Rs 86,000 demonetized currency.
According to the NIA report, LWE groups collect money through levy from private contractors, including those who execute government works, mining, small and medium industries and transporters are siphoned off for personal use, which is contrary to the ideology they portray to win over gullible villagers and tribals.
